As the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations become more and more media savvy and use the internet in ever more deceptive ways to coordinate attacks, CIA is also gearing up to get the information they need to stop the attacks.  In search of that CIA is now investing ever more in areas like Social Media mining and surveillance.   In-Q-Tel is CIA’s venture capital firm.   It has recently invested in companies like Dataminr, Geofeedia, PATHAR, and TransVoyant.  These companies have created tools to mine data from social media platforms like Twitter.
