Two interesting start-ups are going to help in the HR industry in an area that not many address – minorities and women engagement.

One is Glassbreakers – for women who find and provide peer to peer mentorship online.  This helps women feel a sense of inclusion in the company and help them perform better.  For example, working moms can find peers who can mentor new moms through the whole process of managing the two worlds.  The platform was launched a year back as an app that help women in general connect to their peers.  They have a  $2 million round of funding already.

The other start up is Jopwell, which helps companies find minority candidates for jobs.  This startup helps improve on diversity.  Here is the process that the company follows for the minority candidates.  They have also closed on $3.25 million from Kapor Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and Magic Johnson Enterprises.

These two startups in seemingly unimportant areas, do improve a company’s engagement with the groups that have been marginalized in order to enhance performance overall.
