Facebook is the quintessential social media platform for the world. And, it is not stopping at anything. A couple of years back, it had bought WhatsApp and it has its own powerful FB Messenger, which is gaining traction. The Messenger offers sharing of videos and audio as well. One can make calls over it. And WhatsApp also integrated the calls feature – which we find to be very powerful.
Integration With Dropbox
Now, Facebook is adding integration with Dropbox – the cloud storage app. This is the first time that Facebook has integrated with a Cloud Storage app. You can share send the Dropbox files over Messenger. The photos or videos (even animated GIFs) will appear directly in the chat window, while other files will need to be opened in Dropbox itself via the link. To do that just click on the More button and you will now see Dropbox as a source. Use that to share any file without having to leave the Messenger interface.
How to Get it Working
To get the feature activated on your phone – please get the Dropbox app (updated version) and Messenger’s latest version. And you are good to go!
What Stan Chudnovsky says of the Messenger gives a glimpse into the direction in which Facebook wants to take it. The One stop shop for mobile communications!
“We want people to communicate just the way they want to on Messenger, with everyone they care about,” said Stan Chudnovsky, head of product for Messenger. “Giving our users the ability to share their Dropbox videos and images in Messenger threads with just a few taps will help them bring more style and personality to those conversations.”
With other sources and integrations like KLM (where people can get updates on their messenger directly) Facebook is really gearing up its Messenger for the future.
