I have a friend from school who, whenever she wants to visit a new place, sends out an email to the high school alumni yahoo group to get ideas on what to do and what to see in that place. Then there is a lot of folks who send information. Some also use Facebook for this, which is another great place to source ideas from by connecting with friends and acquaintances. Have you done any of this? What is the downside of such a way? That the suggestions – which are often excellent – are fragmented and have to be collated together in some notebook or Evernote page.Trip Tips from #Foursquare: A Tool for Crowd-Sourcing your #Travel Planning Click To Tweet
Now Foursquare has come up with an ingenious way to handle crowd-sourcing of travel planning and give it to you wherever you are. Better still, the collation of the suggestions are available to all the friends too! The tool is called Trip Tips. Once you start the process the tool provides a link to share with friends on Facebook and Twitter and their suggestions are aggregated in a list with a map, and saved on your phone!
The interface is pretty intuitive and simple, but quite effective is bringing everything in one place.
