Uber is now moving from car-rides to Chopper rides in some of its areas in partnership with Airbus. This can be very interesting as it promises to make the quick trips from point a-to-point B cheaper over time.#Uber to Launch On-Demand Chopper Service at #Sundance this week #UberChopper Click To Tweet
Uber Technologies Inc is working with Airbus Group SE to provide on-demand helicopter services, Uber co-founder and chief executive Travis Kalanick said on Tuesday.
“The point is if you can push a button and can get a ride, then why not push a button and get a helicopter,” Kalanick said talking to students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai.
The service will be launched at the Sundance Film Festival starting on Jan 21 in Park City, Utah. The tests have already happened.
The U.S. tech firm first tested its UberChopper service between Manhattan and the Hamptons in 2013. The company also has experimented with the helicopter rides for special events, such as at the Cannes Film Festival in May or the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in June.
